The Complete
Guide To The 4Cs

Learn the secrets of the 4Cs of diamond grading to shop like a seasoned expert, ensuring your diamond selection delivers peak quality and unmatched value.

Cut

The cut of a diamond dramatically affects its sparkle, brilliance, and overall beauty. More than just the shape, the cut determines how effectively the diamond interacts with light. A well-cut diamond refracts and reflects light beautifully, giving it unmatched brilliance and fire. Cut quality ranges from Ideal (maximum sparkle) to Poor (appears dull), and choosing a higher-quality cut ensures your diamond radiates with captivating beauty.

Color

Color grading evaluates how close a diamond is to complete colorlessness, rated on a scale from D (completely colorless) to Z (noticeably yellow or brown). Diamonds that are nearly colorless (grades D-F) are highly prized for their pristine, pure appearance, making them more valuable. Even subtle differences in color grade can significantly impact the beauty and rarity of your diamond.

Clarity

Clarity measures the presence or absence of tiny imperfections known as inclusions and blemishes, viewed under 10x magnification. Clarity grades range from Flawless (no visible inclusions or blemishes) to Included (imperfections clearly visible to the naked eye). Diamonds with fewer inclusions are considered more valuable, as they offer greater brilliance and an immaculate appearance.

Carat

Carat is the measurement of a diamond’s weight, where one carat equals 200 milligrams. While larger diamonds typically command higher values, carat alone doesn’t determine visual size or beauty. It’s essential to consider carat alongside cut, shape, and setting to achieve the most impressive look. Selecting the right balance of carat weight with other qualities ensures your diamond will have both presence and stunning visual appeal.
